Identify The Reason for Your Anger

Do not let the sun goes down on your anger

So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it. Genesis 4:6-7

Remember the three questions that God asked Cain. First, Why are you angry? Second, Why has your counternance fallen? Lastly, if you do well, will you not be accepted? In addition God said to Cain, And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it. God wanted Cain to give his best Just as Abel gave his best. Some people say that God rejected Cain’s offering or sacrifice because it wasn’t a blood sacrifice. I don’t believe this is the case. Both men had different occupations. Genesis 4:2 says, Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. The bible says, in Psalm 24:1, The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.

Since everything belongs to God and Cain was a tiller of the ground he had to offer God something of the ground and since Abel was a Sherpherd, he had to offer God a lamb.
Note Abel did not just offer God a lamb but a fated lamb; a healthy one and it was his first but Cain on the other hand, we don’t know what exactly he offered but it was not his best. He could have offered something better that’s why his offering was rejected. Because Cain did not repent and allowed the sun to go down his wrath, he killed his brother out of anger. Genesis 4:8 says, Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

Bad things happen when you don’t deal with anger. This still goes on today. How many times you hear in the news that a husband kill his wife out of anger or children or wife kills her husband out of anger. The bible says, in Genesis 49:5-6 Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place. Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox.

Cain’s issue wasn’t with his brother but rather with God but he made it an issue with his brother. It was God that rejected his offering not Abel’s. Why did Cain kill Abel? He killed him because he was jealous due the fact that God accepted Abel’s offering and rejected his. What should he had done? God told him that if you do well will you not be accepted. He should have dealt with his anger by dealing with his Jealousy for his brother by offering to God another offer but this time something better and God would have accepted it and he would not have been Jealous of his brother and if his not jealous of him, he won’t be angry at him and if his not angry at him, he won’t have any desire to kill him.

When we are angry, we need to identify the reason why we’re angry and deal with it before the sun goes down on it. If it’s not dealt with in a timely fashion, it can lead to hatred, killing, abuse, divorce, violent, etc. If you’re angry, you will have a vengeance spirit and remember the bible says in Romans 12:19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.

~May the Lord bless your heart, mind, body, and soul; have an amazing day.
